Jamie inner journey

Born in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia, on 17 November 1968, Jamie is the second of three boys to Mary and Richard; the middle brother to Andrew and Cameron. Due to his father’s employment in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), he has lived in various places including Ipswich, Queensland; Sale, Victoria; Perth, Western Australia; and Penang, Malaysia.

Jamie was an avid sportsman throughout his younger years and excelled in soccer and cricket.

Jamie finished high school in Perth, Western Australia, in 1986. He worked a number of part-time jobs, varying from retail to working in a casino. He later worked at the R&I Bank, initially as a teller, and later in the bank's training and quality assessments team.

In 1994, Jamie decided to escape the humdrum of working nine to five and travel the world. Since then, he has experienced a number of life-changing events that have had a profound impact on his life, his family, and his friends. Just when it seemed he was on track to be successful and live a ‘normal’ life, he was knocked down again, and again.

Inner Journey is Jamie's first literary account of his travel experiences and dealing with bipolar disorder. Jamie has a unique writing style, that is both easy to read and appealing to a range of readers. Even those not affected directly by someone with bipolar will find Jamie’s book gripping and beneficial.

Jamie has also written poetry, some of which provides an amazing insight into the emotions experienced by those with a mental illness. Some of his poetry inspired the lyrics of songs in a local West Australian band. Jamie’s poetry will later be collated and published in another book in 2008. Some examples of Jamie’s poetry have been included on this site.
